TRADA (Timber Research and Development Association) formally became a Research Association in 1962. Prior to this it was simply the Timber Development Association (TDA). This meant that it received on-going funding from government to research the question of how to improve the use of wood, mainly in construction matters.
Many reports from the work during this period can be found in our
Archive section.
In more recent times there has been no government funding in this way, with funds being allocated to the university sector rather than to Research Associations.
TRADA continues to fund some modest projects in its own right and is keen to support research work in universities through its
University Engagement Programme.
If you are planning or are currently undertaking research which will advance the cause of using wood please get in touch with our University Liaison Manager at
[email protected].
We may be able to help with background information, material from our archives and contacts of companies that might be able to supply material or help in other ways.
If you know of a project that you think could be listed here then please send details, including a short synopsis, to our University Liaison Manager at
